Inver boss bolsters squad with Celtic duo

The arrival of Darren Stuart and Kevin Bradley is designed to bolster Larne’s slim chance of promotion, with the Invermen still riding surprisingly high in Championship 1 after the 2-0 weekend win at Ballyclare.

“We weren’t in a massive rush to sign anybody because we didn’t particularly plan to recruit at all during the transfer window, but we had certain targets we wanted to sign if they were available and these two guys were amongst those,” explained manager Davy McAlinden.

“Our philosophy is simple. If we feel people can improve the strength of our squad and they are willing and able to come to Inver Park then we will sign them. We asked Donegal Celtic about this duo and they gave us permission to speak to the players and they wanted to join us.

“Darren is a midfielder cum forward, while Kevin is a defender and both are in their early twenties. They are quality players and have the potential to be even better, so I am delighted to have them on board.

“On the flip side, there have been three departures since the transfer window opened of players who want to get more football; Owen Thompson away to Dundela, Ross Davidson gone to Knockbreda and Matthew Rooney now doing pre-season with a club in the League of Ireland, Drogheda United I think.”
