Football: Big turnout for Larne Youth’s AGM

Larne Youth has thanked all those who attended its recent Annual General Meeting, describing the turnout as the ‘best in the club’s history’.

A statement on the club’s official facebook page read: “It gives the committee great encouragement to progress the club knowing it has the support of its members.”

The local outfit, which has produced players such as Northern Ireland internationals Jonny Steele and Jeff Hughes, also paid tribute to the work of treasurer and trustee, John Workman, who has stepped down after 20 years.

The following officers were elected for he forthcoming season: Chairman, Nat Woodside; vice-chairman, William Carson; secretary, Andrew McNickle; treasurer, Greg Humphrey; child protection officer, Miriam Buchan.

Committee: Donna Marie Maguire, Karen Bell, John Ross, Tom Buchan, Kate Maxwell, David Murray, Gordon Best, Ivan Wilson, Derek Graham.

Meanwhile, registration for the club’s Summer Soccer Camp, which is open to boys and girls aged 5-12, closes this weekend. The event us scheduled to run from Wednesday July 1 to Friday, July 3 at Sandy Bay.
