Ballymena United’s David Cushley broke Larne hearts when he netted the winner in Tuesday’s County Antrim Shield semi-final in the last minute of extra-time.

Cushley’s left-foot shot nestled in the bottom corner to edge the Sky Blues through to January’s showpiece when they will face Carrick or Linfield.

It had all looked so good for Larne when Stuart McMullan’s spectacular 75th-minute left-foot shot had put Davy McAlinden’s side ahead, but William Faulkner hit back for the Premiership club in the 89th minute.

And the tables really turned in opening 60 seconds of extra-time when Darren Henderson’s close-range header made it 2-1 to United.

But Larne responded with 96 minutes on the clock through Conall McGrandles as scrambled the ball home.

And just as the game looked like it was heading for penalties, Cushley capitalised on a Larne mistake to send the five-time winners through.
