Ballymena League Junior Divisions round-up

Junior Division 1: Woodlands claimed a point at Cookstown RBL when Glenn McAuley’s strike cancelled out Gareth Ramsey’s opener for the home side.

Goals from Conor Mullen and Chris Loy weren’t enough as FC Whiteabbey lost 5-2 at Desertmartin.

Junior Division Two: Goals were the order of the day as Clough Rangers Athletic edged to 4-3 win away to Ballyclare North End. Clough’s winner arrived in the 90th minute to break North End hearts.

Robert Bonnes, Graham McFarlane, Craig Gracey netted for the home side but Colin Stewart’s last-gasp strike sealed all three points for the visitors.

Ballynure Old Boys ‘B’ lost 5-3 away to Brantwood Reserves. Stephen Hylands scored a hat-trick for the Belfast side with Robert Watson, David Higgins and an own goal accounting for Ballynure’s scorecard.

Keith Hall fired four goals as Larne Olympic strolled to an 8-2 success over Remo. Brian Heggarty, Stuart McCutcheon, Kevin Bradley and Criag Todd (pen) got the others for the Invermen. Remo’s response came courtesy of Neil Murphy and Jack McAllister.

Junior Division Three: All the goals arrived in the first-half as Castle Star and Whitehead Rangers drew 2-2. Lloyd Watters put Castle in front before Michael Deignan levelled. Stuart Thompson then gave the Whites the edge, only for Watters to restore parity.

A Philip Crozier double and one from Lee Lowry saw Castle Thistle get the better of Red Star. Glenn Herron had given the home side a half-time lead.

1st Carrickfergus OB defeated Brantwood-Loughside 10-2 thanks to goals from Ryan Clawson (three), Gareth Logan, Stewart Pettinger, Andy Scott (three), Warren Nelson and Jack Carse.

Junior Shield R1: Carnmoney defeated Newpark Olympic 2-1 thanks to goals scored by Ricky Thompson and David Jordan.

David Gracey found the net in 3rd Ballyclare’s 4-1 defeat to Bangor Reserves, while Mallusk Athletic also exited the competition going down 7-3 away to Raceview.
