The Limavady lads found themselves a goal down at Dixon Park when Ryan McIlwaine chipped the keeper.

However, they levelled from the penalty spot after 35 minutes and took the lead when a midfielder stormed into the box and fired the ball in to the top corner well beyond the reach of Ross McKnight.

The writing was on the wall for Ronnie Burns’ Wee Reds on the hour when Newtowne stretched their advantage to 3-1.

Kyle Woods struck the post as Ballyclare tried to hit back but they were caught on the break, conceding a fourth goal five minutes from time.

Junior Division 1: Craig Montgomery scored the only goal of the game as his 77th-minute strike gave Carnmoney all three points at home to Cookstown RBL.

Woodlands and FC Whiteabbey shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw. Woodlands went in front through Ross Oliver but that was cancelled out when Conor Mullen equalised for the Whites. Mark McCullough gave the visitors the edge on the half-hour but Chris Pollock levelled matters six minutes later.

In the second session Ryan O’Neill scored Whiteabbey’s third, only for Jonny Parkes to secure a point in the 75th minute.

Elsewhere, a Paul Walker double and a goal from Aidan McKeating gave Mallusk Athletic a 3-2 win away to Antrim Rovers.

Junior Division Two: Ballyclare North End went down 7-2 away to Moyola Park Olympic. Robert Bonnes scored both goals for North End. Mountainview played host to Wakehurst Strollers, but they lost 5-0.

Junior Division Three: Whitehead Rangers were edged out 2-1 at Antrim Rovers Swifts while Hillhead Rangers were 4-1 winners over Brantwood-Loughside.

Welshman Cup: 1st Carrickfergus Old Boys got the better of Carrick Thistle in round one of the Linda Welshman Cup. The Old Boys eased to a 4-1 success with Andrew McIlrath, Andrew Scott, Gareth Logan putting them in control before Phil Corzier pulled one back. Jack Carse wrapped things up with 1st Carrick’s fourth in the 83rd minute.

Castle Star also progressed at the expense of KCC Athletic. Star won 3-1 with David Mitchell, Alan Robb and Michael Douglas on target. Aston Neill scored Athletic’s only
goal.

In round two, Larne Olympic blazed to a 7-0 victory over Cookstown Youth at Inver Park. Michael Smith opened the scoring before Guillame Keke doubled their advantage inside the opening 15 minutes. That set the tone and Keke went on to net a hat-trick, as did John Donnelly.

A Paul McAllister opener, followed by a Marc Campbell treble helped 3rd Ballyclare to a 4-1 win over Remo whose goal came courtesy of John Fox.
