Comrades blunt Q-Stix ambitions
Q-STIX A remain top of the Larne and District Snooker League despite an away defeat at the ever improving Comrades A.
Colin Gavin, with breaks of 22 and 27, got the visitors of to a good start, but Comrades took the next three with wins for J Taylor, R West and Steven Higgins to secure the victory, with Bill McIlroy taking the last for Q-Stix.
St Comgall’s remain second but had a tough match against The Legion. G Williams took the first from Gary Jonston. P Haveron was unlucky to lose to Joe Gribben in the next, with a close frame going down to the black. Dean McDonagh was on great form with breaks of 51 and 34 to beat E Haveron and Shaun McAlister wrapped up the win with a 34 in the last. Latharna had an away win at Ballyclare Golf Club with wins for J Jackson, Raymond Weir and George McGregor to keep themselves in fourth in a very close league.
Clonlee remain at the top of Division Two with a narrow win over Carrick B. Greenbank B were the in-form team with a good away win at Victoria. Wins for S Nelson, B McNeeley, B Hawkins and Maurice Williams - with a 35 break - secured four points.
Linfield recorded thier first win with a 3-2 away win at St John’s.
