Charlotte makes a big splash at championship

LARNE Swimming Club was again in the headlines at the recent DSE British Disability Championships in Ponds Forge Sheffield, with Charlotte Hall and James Hamilton both in outstanding form.

Fifteen-year-old Charlotte had a weekend to remember taking two gold in the 50m and 100m SB9 class breaststroke.

She completed personal best times in each event to beat the European Bronze medal holder, Louise Watkins, from South West England. Charlotte, sponsored by Newtownabbey council, was one of three Ulster swimmers, two from Larne Club, who attended the event.

The competition was fierce, but Charlotte produced some great results against others who will take part in the world championships.

In the S14 class 17-year-old James Hamilton took fifth in the 50M breaststroke and sixth in the 100m breaststroke, with a seventh in the 400 freestyle and an eighth place in the 50 backstroke.
