LARNE RFC recently received the bronze award in the IRFU (Ulster Branch) Club Recognition Scheme, and as a result will receive a visit from Ulster players Matt McCullough and Simon Danielli, through the Ulster Rugby Players in Clubs Scheme.
The Glynn club was required to provide fit-for-use policies and procedures as laid out by the Ulster Branch, to ensure that the standards of coaching, child protection, equity and provision of rugby are safe and enjoyable for all participants, regard
less of age or ability.

Over the last decade, since the introduction of the Youth section at Larne RFC, the club has been steadily building year on year, as more local boys; and more recently girls, have taken up the game. Larne RFC now has teams at U14, U16 and U18 level, with many of the aspiring young players going on to represent their region at U16 level, and Ulster at U17, U18 and U19. This year alone has seen Jonathan Hall represent Ulster Youth at U18 level, John O'Toole at U19 level and club 'old boy' David McIlwaine represent Ireland at U19 level and Ulster at U20.

While Jonathan and John still play their trade among the ranks at Larne RFC, David is now playing All- Ireland rugby with Belfast side Queens with the best wishes of the men from the Glynn behind him.

More recently, following the success of local schools, Larne Grammar School and Larne High School in the Girls' Schools' Cup, Larne RFC has established an Under 18 Girls' section at the club for the first time. With a few friendly matches already under their belt, and some of the girls having already been scouted into age grade squads, the club has high hopes that this will be the next in a long line of Larne RFC success stories.

New members are always welcome at Larne RFC, and in particular within the Youth section. If anyone is interested in joining, regardless of whether or not they have previous playing experience, please contact Club Youth Development Officer Andrew O'Toole on 07716 786 380 for details of training times.
