LARNE First XI travelled to Grosvenor on Friday evening missing a few regular players and lost 3-1.
From the outset the determination of the Larne team was evident and was rewarded by an early Teah Maguire goal against a team who had not conceded this season.
Within minutes Grosvenor, on a fast break, evened up the score, slotting a hard shot pa
st Larne keeper Caroline Morrow.
Grosvenor scored a second goal late in the first half to leave Larne an uphill task.
In the second half Larne were unfortunate not to even the tally when an excellent shot by Kathryn Corish went wide, but Grosvenor continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded with their third goal.
Larne did not give up and the opposition began to make mistakes as they panicked under the pressure. However, Larne were unable to convert a number of penalty corners.

THIRDS’ FIRST POINT
Larne Thirds gained their first point of the season in a scoreless draw against North Down IV on Saturday at Antiville.
This team is a bit of a mixture of youth and experience and. despite some excellent team work, just lacked the finishing touch to put the ball into the net.
North Down were under pressure for most of the match and Sarah Arneill, Hayley Crawford and Vikki Robinson did an excellent job at the back.
Larne were glad to see keeper Rachael Hamill making a comeback after being out for two seasons due to injury and true to form she delivered the goods on the day, helping the team to keep their first clean slate of the season.
Seasoned players Jane Ogilby and Sandra McCormack kept Down busy, ably supported by Ciara McToal and newcomers Nicola McClatchey, Kerri McIlroy along with Hannah Batch and Tyler Dobbin who have both moved up from last year’s under-14 squad.
The club would like to record it’s thanks to club sponsors Morrow’s Building and Maintenance Contractors
