Springfield, consisting of Stewart Gillespie, Esler Burke, Richard Geddis, Brian Clarke and Gerry Brown, entertained crowds during their residency in Drumnagreagh Hotel in the 1970s.

Having long ago gone their separate ways, the fivesome got together recently for a bash at the home of Alan Mayberry, a member of the well-known local group the ALS Band.

Stewart, who now lives in the Republic of Ireland said: “We had a bit of a catch up and played some tunes together for the first time in 40 years.

“We still played well together even after all these years; it was just like riding a bike. There is even talk of a gig in Larne later this year.”
