A number of Larne Borough Council employees are to receive an additional payment, in recognition of extra duties undertaken to ease the transfer of services to Mid and East Antrim Council.
The local authority consulted with other councils to ascertain what increments were being paid elsewhere before resolving to make the special Review of Public Administration payment.
On the proposal of Cllr Gregg McKeen, seconded by Ald Roy Beggs, Larne council also agreed to include employer’s pension contributuon plus national insurance.
Recipients were given the option of receiving a one-off compensatory payment instead.
The issue had been raised at an earlier meeting by Cllr Mark McKinty, who tabled a question on payments for extra duties.
At that stage, chief executive Geraldine McGahey advised that discussions were in progress with other councils and the interim human resources director at Mid and East Antrim Council, adding that she required direction from the council on whether or not they wished to progress the matter, ahead of producing costings from members’ consideration.
Cllr McKinty, seconded by Cllr Michael Lynch, proposed that a report be compiled.”
