TWO young people from Islandmagee have been selected to represent South East Antrim Scouts District in a public speaking competition.

Communication Opportunity is a competition run by the Scout Association to develop social skills. The competition, which is a UK national event, assesses the communication skills of Scouts using criteria such as fluency, use of language, content, preparation and structure.

An elimination competition was held in Ballyclare to select Scouts to represent the SE Antrim District in the Co Antrim heat in February, with hopes to progress to the NI final in March.

Rebecca Nicholson from 1st Islandmagee will represent SE Antrim in the Explorer Scout section (age 14 plus), while Hazel Nicholson will represent the age 11-14 section.
