LARNE firefighters are set to wheel into action next week for their annual Santa run.

The Christmas present delivery service will commence on Monday, December 10 and will continue until December 18.

This is a charity fund-raiser with crew donating their time free of charge.

Santa will swap his sleigh for a fire engine on Monday evening to make his first stop in Boyne Square followed by Seacourt and Huntersbuoy. On Tuesday evening, he will visit Antiville, Lindara, The Beeches and Hampton Manor. The fund-raiser will continue on Thursday, December 13 in Craigyhill, Argyll and Walnut Hollow; December 17, Inver, Sallagh Park and Tullygarley and December 18, Millbrook, Glynn, Drains Bay and Ballygally.

Presents should be brought to Larne Fire Station on Wednesday night, from 7.00 pm until 9.00 pm or during business hours at Prestige Flooring, Lower Cross Street or Torbitt’s, Redlands Road.

The cost for delivery is £3 for one parcel; £5 for two parcels or £8 for three or more and should be marked with the child’s name, address and telephone number.

All proceeds will be donated to three charities after Christmas.

Watch Commander Tommy Torbitt said the festive fund-raiser will also be used to drive home a serious message.

“It is a community safety initiative as well. We will be distributing information leaflets. At Christmas time, people are using a large amount of lights and electricity. We want to get the message across about using them safely.”

Residents are reminded that deliveries may be subject to change if firefighters receive an emergency call.
