Detectives are appealing for information following a report of a burglary at a house in the Islandmagee Road area of Whitehead on Saturday, April 16.

At approximately 10.15am, as the elderly occupant of the house was sitting in his living room, he heard a loud bang on his front door.

It is believed the intruder then rummaged through a bedroom before his living room door was then opened by an unknown person; no one entered the room. Nothing was stolen during the incident.

The occupant of the house was left very badly shaken.

Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Larne on the non-emergency number 101.

Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
