Police are conducting a search of an area off Larne’s Old Glenarm Road this morning (Monday September 5).

Two police vans and a police car were present at the scene, which was sealed off to the public.

The area is understood to lead to a site which holds a number of derelict car repair workshops.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that searches are continuing in the Larne area.

Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch are currently working with the Metropolitan Police Service’s Counter Terrorism Command in relation to an investigation into Northern Ireland related terrorism.

A number of searches have been carried out in the Larne area to date.

On Sunday August 28, a search was carried out in the Inver Road area.

This was followed by a further search in the Town Park/Glenarm Road area on Monday August 29.

Then, on Wednesday August 31, detectives searched the Town Park, Carnfunnock and Inver River areas of the town.
