Police renew appeal for witnesses to Main Street accident

Police have renewed an appeal for information following a road collision at Main Street, Larne, last Wednesday (February 22).

A PSNI spokesman said: “Shortly before 8.25am, it was a reported that a man was withdrawing money from an ATM on Main Street when a blue coloured Vauxhall Vivaro van that was parked on the street is believed to have rolled back and struck him.

“The 63-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for a suspected fracture to his leg. Unfortunately, he later passed away in hospital.”

The victim was Glenarm man Michael Peter Diaczyszyn.

Police are appealing for anyone who was at Main Street, Larne, on February 22 and who witnessed the van or the collision, to contact local police in Larne or the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting ref 189 of 22/2/17.

Police say that any information could be of significance to the investigation and would urge witnesses to contact them with it.
