NOVELIST Erin Kaye’s latest book is inspired by an unlikely source – cement company Lafarge’s exciting plans to redevelop Magheramorne quarry into one of the most eco-friendly developments in the UK and Ireland.

Erin (aka Patricia Gibb) launches her seventh novel, The Promise of Happiness, later this month. Now living in North Berwick, but born and raised in Larne, all Erin’s novels have been based in Ireland.

The Promise of Happiness sees divorcee Louise return with her young son to be near her family in Ballyfergus (a town based loosely on Larne). Her sister is very keen on green living and is about to move into one of the first houses in the eco-village at Loughanlea (clearly based on Magheramorne), referred to as a ‘bright jewel’ beside the lough. By the end of the book, Louise also moves to Loughanlea and has a job there.
