LEADING counselling charity Contact, which runs the regional crisis helpline service Lifeline - 0808 808 8000 - has appointed Mervyn Reid as its new manager responsible for the Northern Trust area.

Mervyn is responsible for the management and promotion of the Lifeline service in addition to working as a shift team leader for the Lifeline 24/7 centre.

He is the first point of contact for health service staff, schools and colleges, local community/voluntary groups or anyone involved in local mental health initiatives, who wish to learn more about Lifeline and how it can support local people in times of distress or despair.

Mervyn has worked for Lifeline for more than three years as a telephone and face-to-face counsellor. He also worked for Contact in its school counselling and Accident & Emergency projects.
