Chief Executive of MEA Council Anne Donaghy has written to DETI Minister Jonathan Bell to seek his support in coordinating a Foreign Direct Investment visit to the area.

In the letter, Mrs Donaghy states that there has been “a noticeable reduction in the number of such visits” over the past three years.

She continued: “This is a suitation which I am keen to rectify. As you will already be aware the area already boasts a number of well-known businesses such as AES Energy, Wrightbus, Ryobi and Schrader Electronics.

“These businesses have seen the potential of operating from our area and with the redevelopment of Larne Harbour, the upgrade of the Larne Line Link and the A2 from Carrickfergus to Belfast can only improve the attractiveness of the Borough.

“Elected Members felt it was important to put on your radar their ambition of the economic growth of Mid and East Antrim.”
