A LARNE man has narrowly missed out on a top accolade in the annual Orange Community Awards.
Victor Haslett, of Larne Royal Blue LOL 70, was awarded the runner-up prize in the Individual Community Involvement category.
Mr Haslett has been a member of the Orange Order and the Royal Black Preceptory for the past 48 years.
Victor has also been an organist for the past 45 years at All Saints Church of Ireland, Larne, and is a member of the Larne Concert Choir.
After he retired as a well-known postman, he became a voluntary driver with the NI Ambulance Service and South Antrim Community Transport Service, which involves working at least three nights a week.
Through his voluntary service. Victor is enabling people who would be otherwise housebound to get out and about on shopping trips, to visit relatives in hospital and, of course, to attend hospital appointments themselves.
