Speed humps to be created in Millbrook

TRAFFIC calming measures are set to be introduced at Millbrook after local residents cited concerns over road safety in the area.

A total of 40 letters of objection were sent to the Planning Service regarding a proposed park-and-ride facility at Old Belfast Road, with residents expressing fears over the increased amount of traffic on the road.

However, planners gave final approval to the controversial application this week. Ground preparation work has been ongoing at the site for several weeks.

And in a bid to address the concerns of local residents, the Roads Service has agreed to install a number of measures aimed at reducing traffic speeds in the area and assisting pedestrians crossing to and from the bus stop.

These include the introduction of a traffic island near the bus stop and two speed humps – one near Drumahoe Gardens and the other near Glebe Court.
