Resurfacing work at Garron Road
WORK is due to commence this week on a £230k resurfacing scheme on the A2 at Garron Road, Carnlough.
Almost 2km or road will be resurfaced between Branch Road in Carnlough, north to Largy Road. Work is expected to last around two weeks.
Roads Minister Danny Kennedy said: “Once complete, road users will immediately benefit from the improved road surface. The improvements will also help to enhance this important tourism gateway from Larne to the north Antrim coast and Glens.”
“The scheme is a further demonstration of my Department’s continued investment in the A2 Coast Road and in the Larne Borough Council area.”
Due to the available road width at the location and to protect the safety of the public and contractors it is necessary to close Garron Road from Wednesday, January 30 to Friday, February 8.
To help minimise the unavoidable inconvenience to road users Largy Road will be signposted as a diversionary route during the works.
Roads Service has carefully programmed the scheme and operations and traffic management arrangements have been arranged. Road users should expect some unavoidable delays and should allow additional time for journeys.
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and road users can keep up to date with any revisions using the roadworks report on www.TrafficwatchNI.com.
