Larne couple delighted to win their dream wedding
A LARNE woman has told how she "burst into floods of tears" after winning the wedding of her dreams.
Kerrie Ferguson and her fiance, James Magee, were voted the winning couple in the Lansdowne Bride and Groom of the Year competition, in association with the Larne Times.
The happy pair will receive a 2,000 wedding package at the Lansdowne Hotel, including an array of fantastic prizes from bridal experts to create their dream wedding.
An ecstatic Kerrie said: "I just can't believe we have won such an amazing prize. I didn't even know that James had entered us into the competition until we were named as finalists. When I found out we had won, I was in complete shock and burst into floods of tears."
Kerrie and James had planned and booked their once wedding before. However, Kerrie suffered from anxiety and could not cope with the stress of planning the big day, so the couple were forced to cancel. In doing so, they lost their deposits, which was a major blow to them financially.
And Kerrie said that winning this competition has made a huge difference to their lives, allowing them to plan a wedding with the minimum amount of stress. They are due to tie the knot on Tuesday, June 15.
In his entry for the competition, James said: "Kerrie's only dream is to be a princess for a day. After everything we have gone through, I feel we have nothing to lose, so I have taken this once in a lifetime opportunity.
"Hopefully, with any luck and maybe if fate comes on our side, we might finally get our dream to become a reality."
Kerrie said she did not for one second believe they would win the competition and added that she was "so chuffed" to come out on top.
She added: "If it were not for this competition, we would not have been able to get married for a long time. We were only planning a minimal wedding, but now it will be amazing. I am so grateful for everyone who voted for us."
