Irish street signs 'could be divisive'

THE idea of erecting dual-language street signs in Larne's Seacourt estate has been branded as "mischief-making" by a local community representative.

As reported exclusively in the Larne Times, the council has received several requests for street signs written in Irish and English at locations throughout the borough, including Seacourt, Glenarm and Carnlough.

But Bertie Shaw, chairman of Seacourt Community Council, claimed the people who had requested signs in the estate "do not represent the aspirations of the community".
