Illegals will be detained in Larne

A HOLDING centre is to be built in Larne for the short-term detention of suspected illegal immigrants.

The Home Office-run UK Border Agency is considering submitting a planning application proposing construction of the facility in the grounds of the PSNI station, the Larne Times has learned.

We understand the proposal to commission the 22-bed holding centre close to the port of Larne is currently awaiting final decision, but a formal planning application is expected in the near future.
