Firefighters prevent spread of Main Street blaze

A FIRE which gutted a shop in Larne's Main Street last week was not started deliberately, police believe.

The PSNI said a crime is "not suspected" at the Happy Days card and novelty shop.

Meanwhile, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said yesterday it had still to determine the cause of the fire, which was reported at 1.20am on Thursday.

Thirty firefighters and six appliances from Larne, Whitehead, Carrickfergus, Belfast, and Kilrea were tasked to extinguish the inferno and succeeded in preventing it spreading to adjoining premises.
