Council awards arts grants

ARTS and heritage grants have been awarded by Larne Borough Council to local recipients.

Funding of £225 has been granted to the Naggy Burn Ulster Scots and Schomberg Cultural Society the help defray the cost a Burns Night supper held on January 26.

Drumalis Arts was awarded £250 to help pay for two choral singing workshops, to take place between November this year and February, 2014. The objective is to enhance the skills and repertoires of local choirs and choral societies.

However, a request for £500 from Larne Choral Society towards a 2013 spring concert was turned down because the application showed that projected income exceeded expenditure.
