the talents of Larne songstress Zolene Mayberry have always earned her warm applause in and around her home town, but now the 18-year-old has found herself becoming quite a hit in Co Kildare.
Zolene, from Killyglen Road, was invited to appear as one of the artistes at the Leinster Entertainment Awards night in Naas. Also on the bill were Foster and Allen, Michael English and Georgette Jones.
But it came as a pleasant surprise to Zolene to find that the main reason she was there was to receive the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award.
Probably best known for her rendition of the song, ‘The Antrim Coast Road’, Zolene’s fame would seem to have spread much further than that. Due mainly to the fact that well-respected Irish radio presenter, Liam Kett, has been spinning her discs on his popular Kildare FM show.
Zolene ‘brought the house down’ at the awards show, with her performance and many are predicting a very bright future for her.
Meanwhile, the talented singer is working hard to complete her first album and hopes to have it ready later this year.
