LARNE library is to be given new opening hours – meaning that it will be open four late nights every week as well as Saturday opening to offer library users greater flexibility.
From Monday, December 1, Larne library will be open from Monday to Thursday from 9.30am to 8pm. On Friday and Saturday it will be open from 9.30am to 5pm.
Library membership is free and library members can borrow up to nine items at any one time - books or audio books are free of charge, DVD rental costs 2 per week, children’s video rental is 1 per week and CDs cost 35p per week to borrow.
Library users are now being offered free newspapers, resources and information on the internet, which can be accessed through library or home computers. Library members are also able to avail of free internet use at any library in Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, Larne library also invites the public to sign up to one of three free Start sessions, designed to encourage them to Start Computers, Start Email and Start the Internet.
During these one-hour sessions, staff will assist participants in a series of simple and step-by-step exercises. These introductory one-hour sessions are free to all library members.
Library members are also able to avail of free internet use at any library in Northern Ireland.
To become a new member, bring along a means of identification (which includes a home address) and you can make use of the many free library membership benefits.
Larne library has an adult reading group which meets on the first Monday of every month, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. The next meeting will take place on Monday. December 1. All book lovers are welcome to come along to chat over coffee about a book, which the group will jointly select to read each month.
Larne Library will also be holding a number of events and activities to mark the festive season.
