The work of a Larne designer has been showcased in a prestigious beauty contest at the weekend.

Local woman Geraldine Connon was behind the gown worn by Carrickfergus student Charlotte Shaw as she competed in the Miss Ireland finals on Saturday.

Charlotte was one of 37 hopefuls in the running for the national crown at Dublin’s Ballsbridge Hotel.

The 20-year-old had already secured the regional Miss County Down title last month.

“It was an amazing experience and I was so pleased as I placed in the top 15 after it was cut down from 37,” said Jordanstown undergraduate Charlotte, who was cheered on at the venue by her parents, boyfriend Michael, and twin sister Becky.
