A charity football match held at Inver Park recently has raised £3,123 for the Northern Ireland Hospice in memory of Rebekah Bunting.

The fundraising match between the Eagle and Thatch football teams was boosted by the Pastry Chef’s Aidan Hegarty, who cycled the route of the second stage of the Giro d’Italia on the morning of the match, generously donating his £453 sponsor money.

The organisers would like to thank the Thatch bar’s Nigel McWilliams and his staff for their hospitality, match analysis, post-match entertainment and generous donations.

They would also like to thank the Eagle team for their enthusiasm and for faithfully attending each year to play and support the cause.

Other supporters were Ignatius McAlonan at Carriages restaurant, who provided the buffet, Sandy and Stephen Weir, who provided live entertainment, and Cosy Stoves’ Colin Neil who provided items for auction.

Local business people, solicitors and barristers and those in Ballymena are also thanked for their continued support.
