A GROUP of Larne craft enthusiasts known as the ‘Weavers’, held a one-day workshop with tutor Irene MacWilliam.
Irene is a gifted craftswoman who has exhibited throughout the United Kingdom and abroad. She has won many awards for her work both locally and as far away as the United States and is particularly noted for her ‘year quilts’, depicting the main events of each year in a quilt.
The tuition covered the making of various trimmings which could be used in a variety of ways including soft furnishings, dressmaking and embroidery.
The group produced some vibrant tassles, and braids from thread and left-over wool.
The Weavers Group was delighted that due to funding from Larne Borough Council they were able to bring this top class teacher to Larne. New skills were acquired and a fun day was had by all.
