Patrick Wilson was left distraught and fearing the worst after his beloved dog Sonic disappeared on September 13.

Despite ringing round local vets and dog pounds, Patrick was unable to locate the lost pooch, until his daughter-in-law Cllr Ruth Wilson spotted a story about a familiar-looking stray on the Larne Times Facebook site.

Sonic had been rescued by local girls Tyler Dobbin and Kim Paisley, and was reunited with his grateful owner on September 9.

“I am so thankful to Kim and Tyler and to the Larne Times for helping me find him again,” Patrick stated.

“I have had Sonic for 12 years ago, since he was a pup, and I live alone so he is my only companion.

“He is free to run around the yard and on the day he escaped he had been outside with me for a long time as I was cutting the lawn and then he disappeared.

“I left the back door open hoping he would come back but he never did.

“He doesn’t like cats so perhaps he saw one along the lane and took off in pursuit and then got lost.

“We are so thankful to the girls who found him and took care of him.”

Patrick says Sonic has now settled back into his routine and is enjoying being at home.

“As soon as he came back he hopped up on the chair beside me,” he continued.

“It’s great to get him back, it means so much to me.

“It shows you the power of social media.

“I just can’t believe that Sonic was in the Larne Times!”
