Euro 2016: Moyle Primary wishes ex-pupil Gareth McAuley good luck for France

Pupils from Moyle Primary School have presented a handmade 'good luck' card to Larne football hero Gareth McAuley's mum Mildred.

The school is hoping that the card, created by the school’s P5 pupils, will help secure victory for former pupil Gareth and the rest of the Northern Ireland squad in next month’s matches against Poland, Ukraine and Germany.

Mrs McAuley accepted the colourful gift from pupils Cody Perry and Deon Marcus.

School Principal Mr Peter Garrett told the Times that the whole school is rooting for the local footballing legend.

“We want to wish our past pupil Gareth McAuley and the whole Northern Ireland team good luck for the European Championships,” he stated.

“Anticipation is growing amongst the keen football supporters at the school including myself!

“Gareth is a big local celebrity and there are quite a few young pupils here hoping to follow in his footsteps.

“Our P7s have even been honing their mathematics skills by studying the league tables for the Euros!”
