Things are moving slowly at the East Antrim count in the Valley Lesiure Centre, with five of the six seats yet to be declared.

The only candidate to reach the quota so far is David Hilditch (DUP), who topped the poll with 5,906 first preference votes.

His party colleague Gordon Lyons and Roy Beggs (UUP) are also on course to cross the line and be deemed elected, but there will be a four-way scrap for the remaining three seats, with Stewart Dickson (AP), Oliver McMullan (SF), Alastair Ross (DUP) and Noel Jordan (UKIP) all vying for votes.

TUV’s Ruth Wilson was the latest candidate to be eliminated at stage seven of the count, and her surplus votes are now being transferred.

It is likely the East Antrim count will run into tomorrow.
