A KIND-HEARTED teenager has celebrated his 18th birthday by holding a fundraising event in aid of two good causes.

Matthew Beggs – with the help of his family and friends – organised a casino night in Wellington Rec Social Club and raised a total of £475. The money was then split equally between Roddensvale School and Millbrook Youth Group.

Matthew told the Times: “It was a great night with an excellent turnout. I got the idea of organising a casino night from my mum, who did something similar for her 40th birthday to raise money for charity.

“I want to thank everyone who took part and helped organise this event. Some of the money raised also came from a bagpack that I did at Iceland in Larne with people from Millbrook Youth Group, so I want to thank them for that as well.”
