Larne Council’s turbine plan deferred

An application by Larne Borough Council to build a wind turbine on the outskirts of the town has been deferred by planners.

The Planning Service had been minded to refuse the application lodged by the local authority for a 250kw, 40m high wind turbine on lands 270m North north-east of 68 Brustin Brae Road.

The Department stated that the development would have an “unacceptable adverse impact on the visual amenity and landscape character of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”.

However, at the latest meeting of Larne Council, Alderman Roy Beggs called for an office meeting to be held on the issue.
