A Larne DJ has joined forces with a local amateur photographer to promote the town on the cover of his latest release.
Professional musician Jonny McAllister, who has been in the industry for almost 20 years, has reinvented himself as M-Capio following a two-year break.
And having spent 18 months in the studio working on my his latest project, 39-year-old Jonny is now preparing to arrive back on the music scene with the release of a number of new tracks.
For the first of these new releases, an EP entitled ‘Lovely Weather We’re Having Here,’ Jonny turned to an old friend – Larne man Gavin Ferguson – to provide the artwork for the cover.
Gavin, 36, told the Times: “Jonny and I used to hang around together when we were younger, and we have kept in touch through facebook.
“I recently took up photography as a hobby and mostly take shots of the local landscape and wildlife.
“When Jonny had a look through some of my pictures, he spotted the one of Chaine Memorial Tower at sunset and thought it would be perfect for the cover of his new EP.
“I was happy to let him use it, as it not only gets my name out there, it also promotes the Larne borough.”
Former St Comgall’s College pupil Jonny began DJing in Larne in 1992 under the name Jonny Mac.
In 1998, he moved to Scotland with his good friend Ken Ferguson (brother of the world-famous Larne man DJ Fergie). It was here that he really cut his promotional teeth and his career took off.
He has since played alongside some of the biggest names on the scene and spent many years touring the world with the like of first of Leeroy Thornhill of the Prodigy fame.
Now back living in Larne, Jonny said he was excited about releasing his new material this summer.
