Police found '˜speed' in man's bedroom

A Larne man (64) has been given a one month jail term, suspended for six months, for possessing the illegal drug '˜Speed'.

Royston Hale, of Mill Brae, had the offence detected on October 25.

He was in breach of a suspended sentence at the time.

A prosecutor told Ballymena Magistrates Court police had conducted a search of the defendant’s home and found a small amount of white powder in two bags in a bedroom.

The defendant told police he had used the drugs about a year previously.

A defence lawyer told the court that said his client had a fairly limited record and the drugs were only trace amounts
