Police are investigating what is thought to be a deliberate fire at an outbuilding to the rear of a property in the Shane’s Hill Road area of Larne.

It is believed that the blaze was started sometime between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on the afternoon of Saturday, October 19.

Substantial damage was caused to the outbuilding and the cost of repairs is estimated to be in the thousands of pounds.

Despite the isolation of the outbuilding, police believe that motorists travelling on the nearby A36 main arterial route between Larne and Ballymena may have witnessed some suspicious activity in the area.

Police are appealing for anyone who has information about this incident to contact them in Larne on 0845 600 800.

Alternatively, information can also be supplied anonymously to the Crimestoppers organisation by calling 0800 555 111.
