A large turnout of local business people and community representatives attended a presentation at the McNeill Theatre by Richard Ramsey. The Ulster bank senior economist gave a detailed overview of the global economy outlook and how it will impact on areas such as Larne.
Speaking at the first event of the Vital Business seminar series, chairman of Larne Development Forum, Councillor Martin Wilson encouraged the local business community to take full benefit from the seminars.
“In challenging economic times we are considering vital business topics, with excellent speakers and superb networking opportunities. The economic outlook looks tough but there are always business opportunities and we want to help local businesses take advantage of them,” said Councillor Wilson.
The free seminars are being organised on behalf of Larne Borough Council through Larne Development Forum and LEDCOM.
Following a seminar this week on recruitment and selection, the next seminar in the series is due to take place at the former Magheramorne House Hotel which is now the Ireland headquarters for Forever Living Products – a multi-billion dollar US company. The seminar is scheduled for Thursday, November 24 at 6pm on the topic, “Selling the sizzle – how to stand out from the competition in tough times through smart and cost effective marketing”. The speaker is Richard Collett, a leading marketing and communications professional.
Other seminar topics in the series include “Innovate or stagnate – how to grow a business during a recession”; “Maximising the internet and e-commerce to develop new markets for your business” and “Making tax, VAT and capital allowances work for your business”.
