Alison Peel of from Asda Larne has been chosen from hundreds of employees to fly out to Bentonville, Arkansas, to represent them at this year’s Wal-Mart shareholders’ meeting in June.
The prestigious conference this year celebrates its 50th anniversary and is attended by Asda executives and their counterparts from Wal-Mart in the US.
Alison, who works as Point of Sale colleague, will join a staggering 30,000 other Wal-Mart colleagues from around the globe as they come together for a week of events to swap ideas and learn more about Wal-Mart culture. Colleagues will be attending from as far afield as Mexico, Argentina, Canada, Germany and Japan.
Alison said: “I simply couldn’t believe it when I was told that I would be the one going out to Bentonville this year – it’s a real honour and I can’t think of any other company where I’d get the chance to do this.”
General store manager, Steven Henry, added: “I can’t think of a better person to represent the store at the shareholders’ meeting. Alison is one of the friendliest colleagues in the store, is always prepared to go the extra mile to help others and is really popular with colleagues and customers alike. I’m sure she will get a lot out of the experience and we look forward to hearing all about it.”
