Larne police fear a stolen postie’s uniform could be used by a bogus caller.
The red fleece and dark combat trousers were stolen from a house in the Wyncairn Park area of the town on Sunday, November 30.
Chief Insp Stephen McCauley said: “It is unclear why the (Royal Mail) uniform was stolen, but we are keen to speak to anyone who knows anything about the theft.”
He added: “There is always the possibility that the uniform could be used by criminals. I would reiterate general crime prevention advice with regards to this, while assuring people that there is no specific threat around this theft.
“It is always important to take general crime prevention steps, particularly if you live alone. Please do not allow unknown callers to come into your home and do ask for proof of identify from anyone who calls at your home.
“If you have any information concerning the theft of the Royal Mail uniform, please call police on the non-emergency number 101.”
