THE owner and operator of Ballylumford and Kilroot power stations has announced a new partnership with the Ulster Orchestra.

The partnership was initiated after meetings between AES and the Ulster Orchestra with a view to developing a mutually- beneficial relationship that would promote the arts and enhance personal development.

The Ulster Orchestra and AES are working on a project themed “Planet Earth” with Key Stage 2 children from local schools. The project will promote recycling and sustainability.

AES has also sponsored Ulster Orchestra’s principal trumpet player Patrick McCarthy.

Patrick said: “I’m absolutely delighted that AES have agreed to sponsor my chair, and hope this will be a long-lasting relationship to our mutual benefit.”

Mark Miller, AES UK country manager, added: “The partnership with the Ulster Orchestra provides unique development opportunities for our people and assists with the promotion and the sustainability of the arts sector.

“AES are very pleased to be working with such a prestigious and historic local organisation, and are confident that this will be the start of a great and successful future together.”
