DESPITE being held on what was probably the wettest Saturday this year, Chaine Music Live has been declared a success by the organisers.
With heavy rain on the morning of the event, leading to chaos in many parts of Northern Ireland, "plan B" swung into action and the main five-hour afternoon event was moved from Broadway bandstand to Chekkers wine bar.

Over the course of the a
fternoon Chekkers played host to the Chaine FM roadshow and live music from Island Folk and Robin James Hurt and Mick Morris.

Despite the poor weather, the group is pleased to report that many stopped by Chekkers to listen to the music, some directed by notices placed at the bandstand and outside the wine bar.

Gary Andrews, chairman of Chaine Music said: "We were delighted with how things went in the end, having spent the morning depressed about the weather. There was a good crowd at the afternoon event and moreover a great atmosphere. It was also clear that many families came by to enjoy the atmosphere, many enjoying a meal too."

Robin James Hurt and Mick Morris were also well received during their early evening set in Dan Campbell's. Despite the ever worsening weather this part of the day also attracted a good crowd.

The final set of the day saw most of the Chaine Music team receive a thorough soaking heading from Dan Campbell's to the Station Bar, whilst the roads chaos delayed the final band of the day, Anti-Ballroom. A good crowd braved the weather to come to the Station Bar, although numbers were undoubtedly affected by the weather and news warnings telling people to stay at home. With a lively set of modern and classic pop/rock classics from Jude and Neil of Anti-Ballroom the day ended on a lively note.

Overall, Chaine Music is delighted with the success of the event.

Gary added: "Chaine Music exists to promote music and on Saturday several hundred folk enjoyed fine live music across three venues in the town. It was also great to see people having a good time in their home town in a great atmosphere. The success of Chaine Music Live paves the way for future events and we look forward to bringing more live music to Larne in the near future."

Chaine Music would like to thank the event sponsors, Morgan Young Consultants and Larne Borough Council and also to management and staff at the three venues, Chekkers Wine Bar, Dan Campbell's and Morgan Young Consultants.
