FUND-RAISING to send little Jude Glenn to Chicago for specialised treatment to aid his development is moving into top gear over the next few weeks.
With the target of £15,000 now firmly in their sights, Jude's mum Donna is delighted with the way the Larne community have rallied round her much-loved little son.

Four-year-old Jude has Angelman's Syndrome, which has affected many aspects of his
development. However, his cheery smile has helped Jude to make lots of new friends since the appeal was launched in the Larne Times in May.

"It is just fantastic the way that people have been doing all they can to help," said Donna. "It makes such a big difference to know that there are people who are behind me on this. I just want to give Jude the best chance possible."

Coming up on Saturday, September 6 is the first of several big events to boost the appeal.

A group of Extra Care workers - who work alongside Jude's grandmother Anne Neill - got their walking boots on for a sponsored walk at the end of May along the Coast Road in aid of the appeal. And it's likely they will be getting dressed up for a great night out, organised by Extra Care worker Cherese Bates.

Cherese and Colin Patterson, who make up Secret Agents will be taking to the stage along with Davy Bell and Exposure at the Ballylumford Club to bring in some vital funds for Jude's appeal.

There will also be a ballot on the night with some great prizes up for grabs including donations from Beauty Works, Beauty Bliss, Boots, Ann's Pantry, Pinky Moons, Prodigy, Clarks, Duo's, Stella Patterson of Glenarm Castle Bears, Stevie's of Glenarm and DV8.

The fun gets underway at 9.30pm and admission is £10, payable at the door.

Meanwhile, also coming up soon will be a fashion show in St Comgall's and a big night in the Halfway House on October 4.

A special account has been set up at the Larne branch of the Northern Bank in Jude's name for anyone who would like to make a donation.
