The Larne Weavers craft group recently displayed some of their work at the Drumalis Craft Fair, including goldwork, beading, blackwork, stumpwork and embroidery.
The group consists of a number of ladies who meet weekly and work on different projects.
They seek to rekindle interest in skills from a bygone era, as well as learning about more modern craft ideas such as machine embroidery and contemporary jewellery making.
Recently they travelled to The Cotton Shed in Portadown and completed a felt workshop. The ladies produced some beautiful table centres at the event. Their attendance was made possible by a grant received from Larne Council’s Arts and Heritage Fund.
The weavers are grateful to the council, and to Larne PSNI for providing transport.
In the new year the weavers will learn how to make Dorset buttons.
