A sketch of Larne Grammar School in the 1900s, around the time when singer, actor and travel writer Richard Hayward was a boarder there.

Lancashire-born Hayward moved to Larne when he was three years old, and became ‘soaked in Irish songs and stories.’

Hayward attended Miss Cunningham’s school on Main Street, then Carrickfergus Model Primary School. But it was at Larne Grammar School that his enthusiasm for drama was nurtured.
