SIR, I note from your paper last week that the Larne Council has decided to launch a probe into what was euphemistically referred to as 'information management'.
This, I understand from reading your paper last week, arose from a Freedom of Information question to the council.
Unless I have been misinformed, Freedom of Information questions have to be addressed by the government body to which they are addressed. Is this not so?
I also understood that Freedom of Information questions allow 21 working days for a response. Am I wrong in thinking this is the case?
I merely ask because your otherwise excellent report did not make it clear to me whether or not the Council intended responding to the Freedom of Information request.
Maybe some of those from Smiley Buildings keeping a close eye on the Larne Times could write in and inform us what will happen if the Council does not reply? As a ratepayer, I don't want to end up having to chip in for a fine or a surcharge of some sort to central government.

Glenn of Antrim,
Name and address withheld.
