SIR, Following on from your story last week concerning the reconstitution of Larne DPP, I would like to take this opportunity to put on public record my thanks and appreciation to Terry McCaughan, Laura Vance and Brendan Wilkinson for their contribution to the DPP whilst I was the District and Area Commander in Larne.
In particular, I would like to thank Terry McCaughan who effectively performed the role of Vice Chair over the last yar. I always found Terry's contributions, both publicly and privately, to be challenging, fair and made with the right intentions.

He certainly held me to account and as a result, I believe, made a valuable contribution to monitoring the performance of local police. He also made himself available for the many and varied meetings across H District and was vocal in ensuring Larne's voice was heard by the District Commander.

On a personal level, I enjoyed working with Terry and like to think we built a good personal working relation that - and I hope Terry would agree with me - was friendly but never cosy.

Nigel Goddard,
Superintendent,
Community Safety H District,
PSNI.
